Andres Iniesta's time 22 year stay at Barcelona came to an end today after he announced he would leave the club at the end of the season.

The Spaniard has enjoyed a remarkable career at Blaugrana. He's won 31 trophies with the Catalans, including four Champions League titles. He has also won two European Championships and a World Cup with Spain.

It seems the only accolade he has not won has been the Ballon d'Or, and even Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane stated earlier today that that was harsh on the 33-year-old.

"It is difficult because if you like football, seeing a player like him leave is tough," the Frenchman said.

"I've come across him two or three times and he is a charming, very reserved man and I like players who can do everything on the field but are that calm off it.

"I only have good words for him, admiration for his football and I wish him the best as a player for the future but above all, as a person.

"We're talking about someone who made everyone dream and he deserved to win the Ballon d'Or, especially in the year he won the World Cup."

NEYMAR'S TRIBUTE

Iniesta has been receiving tributes from all over the world, with Luis Suarez, Mario Gotze and Fernando Torres just three names that have posted on social media.

Neymar has now joined in. And it's a cracking post.

Neymar left Barcelona for PSG last summer but he still had some very kind words for the 33-year-old, with the Brazilian writing how he will tell his friends, children and family about the midfielder.

The Brazilian wrote in Portuguese, but it translates roughly to this: "Maestro, who honours to be part of his trajectory in Barcelona, already admired you from afar and after I came to be closer I fell in love with his football and more for the person that you are off the field.

"I will always tell the my friends, children and family that I had the pleasure of celebrating goals and titles at his side.

"Barcelona thanks you, I thank you and soccer lovers thank you for everything you did!!! Lots of luck on your walk always".

Wonderful.

Neymar may have left Barcelona last summer, but he clearly still has a high opinion of his former teammate.

The fact that even Neymar, one of the best players in the world in his own right, has insisted he will tell his children about Iniesta, tells you everything you need to know about just how good the Spaniard was.
