Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan took full advantage of being in this match.

The former WWE Champion has been an underdog for his entire career. From his days on the independent scene to when he arrived in WWE.

Although the company wasn’t fully behind him at first, he has overcome the challenges that were put in front of him and became a fan favorite.

Bryan was forced to retire two years due to his history with concussions had talked about wrestling again in the past.

Despite that his run on top in WWE was short-lived, he no doubt made a mark on the history of the sports entertainment company.

After fighting for his dream to once again wrestle again in the ring under the banner of the sports entertainment company, it finally came true earlier this year when it was revealed that Bryan had been cleared to return to in-ring action.

Fast forward, Bryan teamed up with SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon to take on Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in a Tag Team Match at the biggest event of the year for the sports entertainment company, WrestleMania 34, earlier this month in New Orleans. Bryan and McMahon won the match.

Since then, Bryan has been working matches on SmackDown Live and WWE’s latest pay-per-view event.

Bryan made history at Friday’s WWE Greatest Royal Rumble pay-per-view event on the WWE Network in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at the King Abdullah International Stadium by break an impressive record.

The former WWE SmackDown Live General Manager beat Rey Mysterio’s previous 1:02:14 record for longest time in a Royal Rumble Match. He was in the Greatest Royal Rumble for an astounding 1:16:05.

After the match, he spoke with WWE.com about his experience in the match, breaking the record and more.

During the interview, he talked about wrestling former ROH World Champion and current NXT star Roderick Strong in the match. Here is what he had to say (transcript courtesy of NoDQ.com):

“I haven’t wrestled Roderick Strong since 2009. This is the first time we’ve seen each other and the first thing he does is blister my chest up.”

Bryan added in the interview with their website, “Not that he’s an old friend, but he’s an old rival. And I see him and he starts lighting me up and then it brings that fire back in you. And then you start to feel it a little bit more.”
