Karl Duguid has committed his future to Plymouth by penning a new one-year contract.

The 32-year-old, who signed for the Pilgrims from Colchester in 2008, has exercised an option to stay at Home Park on his previous deal. And he has revealed he is looking forward to working with recently appointed manager Peter Reid.

"I had an option for another year if I played a certain number of games last season and that kicked in when my old contract ran out,'' Duguid told the club's official website.

"The manager has been named and I think it it's a great appointment to be honest. There were a lot of names in the frame before Peter was mentioned and I immediately liked the sound of that. I think it is a big coup for the club and shows ambition, in my opinion. They do not come much bigger."

He added: "With Paul Mariner and John Carver staying, too, things are looking good. There is a positive vibe around the place.''
