For the second consecutive season, the Milwaukee Bucks saw their season come to an end with a first-round playoff elimination as they were beaten in seven games by the Boston Celtics.

The C's were too strong for the Bucks in Saturday night's game seven at TD Garden as they advanced to round two with a 112-96 win.

Without Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, not many expected the Celtics to progress but they showed their resilience and fighting spirit to win in seven.

It's a disappointing ending for Milwaukee after an exciting series but they failed to register a single road win which would've seen them through.

Speaking after the loss, Malcolm Brogdon gave an assessment of their season and wasn't afraid to share his honest view as he deemed it a failure.

Asked if it was a successful year for the team, Brogdon said: “Honestly, no. We ended up in the same spot as last year. The end goal is to at least go farther than you did last year and we did the same thing.”

The second-year man produced one of his worst performances in the game seven defeat to the Celtics as he put up just two points on 1-of-8 shooting from the field in 30 minutes of action.

The point guard missed a large chunk of the campaign with a quad injury and despite returning before the playoffs, he wasn't able to rediscover the form that earned him the Rookie of the Year award last year.

It was a hugely frustrating season for the 25-year-old in more ways than one. He was also demoted to the bench when the Bucks acquired Eric Bledsoe in a trade.

A year that promised so much now draws to a close with a familiar feeling for the Wisconsin-based franchise.

Once again, their shining light was Giannis Antetokounmpo who took his game to another level this year.

With the team set to appoint a new head coach in the summer, anybody who takes the job will have one of the league's best players at his disposal.

The potential is certainly there to do something special in Milwaukee, but there has been talk of their potential for two years now and they haven't shown much progression.

There'll now be pressure on the front office to make moves to improve the roster and hire the right man to take this talented team forward once and for all.
