Twenty-four hours before their semi-final second-leg against Roma, Liverpool fans had the opportunity to sit back and enjoy Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich.Jurgen Klopp’s side have one foot in the Champions League final after their 5-2 victory at Anfield last week. But the other semi-final was a bit more delicately posed with Madrid holding a slender 2-1 lead from the first-leg.But that lead was wiped out almost immediately after Joshua Kimmich made it 2-2 on aggregate - although Bayern still trailed on away goals.Seven minutes later, though, and Karim Benzema equalised on the night to hand the initiative to Zinedine Zidane’s side. While there were no further goals in the first-half, there were chances aplenty. And it wasn’t necessarily fantastic attacking play that was splitting open the defences. Instead, it was constant poor defending.

SHEARER'S TWEET WENT DOWN WELL IN LIVERPOOL

Watching the match, there was one thing Liverpool fans would have been thinking: ‘We can beat both of these sides if we reach the final.’

And that’s exactly what Match of the Day presenter Alan Shearer was also thinking.

During the first-half, he tweeted: "The forward line of @LFC would cause havoc against either of these sides. #RMAFCB @ChampionsLeague.”

Shearer has just made himself plenty of Liverpool fans…

But it’s certainly hard to disagree with Shearer - especially when Liverpool have Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in their front-three.

In fact, Liverpool have already beaten Hoffenheim 4-2, Maribor and Spartak Moscow 7-0, Porto 5-0 and Roma 5-2 in this season’s Champions League.

Of course, it will be Real Madrid that Liverpool would meet if they reach the final after they triumphed in the second-half.

They were gifted a 4-2 lead on aggregate after Bayern goalkeeper Sven Ulreich slipped within minutes of the restart allowing Benzema to grab his second of the night. James Rodriguez - on loan from Madrid - made it 2-2 at the Bernabeu but Madrid scraped through.

While everyone - including Shearer - is talking as though Liverpool are already in the final, midfielder Gini Wijnaldum doesn't think Liverpool have any 'feet' in Kiev just yet.

"[There is] no foot in the final, you can only have two feet or none," Wijnaldum said on Tuesday evening.

"Strange things have happened before in the Champions League, Roma have showed against Barcelona they can turn things around so we have to be aware of it.

"We showed versus City we can keep the lead, but both teams will have confidence."
