Real Madrid are through to their fourth Champions League final in the past five years and are looking to win the competition for an incredible third season in a row.If they achieve that amazing feat, this Real side will surely go down as one of the greatest teams in history. But Los Blancos aren’t exactly getting the respect they deserve.Zinedine Zidane certainly isn’t spoken in the same breath as managerial geniuses like Pep Guardiola, and his side have plenty of doubters after they narrowly edged past Juventus in the quarter-finals and now Bayern Munich in the semi-finals.The fact that they’re 15 points behind Barcelona in La Liga could be the reason many are claiming that this Madrid side isn’t anywhere near as good as in previous years. And with free-scoring Liverpool potentially facing Madrid in the Champions League final, some are already predicting Jurgen Klopp’s side will run riot against the current holders later this month“If you think about the amount of chances Bayern had over the two legs, I can't see Liverpool being that wasteful," former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard told BT Sport after Madrid scraped through to the final.

BALAGUE HAS A MESSAGE FOR THE DOUBTERS

"I think Liverpool are more clinical than Bayern Munich and if those chances come about in a final I think they could really hurt them."

And his BT colleague Frank Lampard had a pretty damning assessment of Madrid this season.

"This isn't the Real Madrid of the last few years. They've had an incredible amount of luck,” Lampard claimed.

But Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has a message for Gerrard, Lampard and everyone else that thinks Liverpool would comfortably beat Madrid in the final.

“I see. The team that has got to 4 champions league finals in 5 years are seen the underdogs Vs Liverpool/Roma. A reminder. They got to those finals (winning three titles in the process) with the same weaknesses that everyone seem to have identified. I wouldn't be so confident,” Balague tweeted.

He’s got a very good point.

Madrid have beaten the champions of France, Italy and Germany on their route to the final and yet many are claiming they’ve been unconvincing.

They might not have had a good season domestically but this is a Madrid side that just have that winning mentality.

And they will go into that final knowing they can win their 13th European Cup - and will be favourites to do so.
