It seems that Roberto Firmino’s unbelievable form for Liverpool is finally starting to be recognised. The Brazilian forward has been sensational for Liverpool this season. He’s scored 27 times and been a key cog of everything that the club have achieved this season. And he was rewarded with a new contract on Monday, bumping his wages up to £180,000-per-week. And Jurgen Klopp was ecstatic that Firmino put pen to paper on a new deal."It's unbelievably important news for us. Really cool," he said."I heard what he said about it being an easy decision for him and I can really imagine that it was. He knows and appreciates absolutely this club."This is one very important step for us. Absolutely. But even Roberto cannot play alone. We need to carry on in this way.”

JAMIE CARRAGHER ISSUES HIS OPINION ON FIRMINO

Jamie Carragher has clearly been impressed with Firmino.

The Liverpool legend, while speaking to Goal, claimed that Firmino is his favourite player at Liverpool.

“I love Firmino,” he says. “He’s probably my favourite player! What Salah is doing is ‘wow’ but I love watching Firmino play; his touch, the way he links the play, his strength, his working back.”

And Carragher cannot believe that some pundits, including former Reds John Barnes and Steve McMannaman, think that Liverpool need a new striker.

“I can’t believe that some people still say we need a centre-forward!" he explained. "I hear pundits on TV saying it and it’s like, ‘Oh my god!’ He’s got 27 goals! And he’s not just a penalty-box striker. He doesn’t take loads of penalties.

“It’s because of Messi, Ronaldo, Salah now. They’ve changed the way people look at strikers and their numbers. But that’s not normal, what they’re doing! If you’ve got an attacking player getting 25 goals, and doing everything Firmino does besides, then you’ve got a great player."

Carragher even went as far as saying that he’s Klopp’s most important player, which although controversial, is absolutely bang on.

“I think he’s arguably Klopp’s most important player, for how we press, what we do. He’s just brilliant," he added.

Well said, Jamie.

Firmino has had his fair share of doubters, which is quite incredible to think given the season he has had.

He may not be the best player at Liverpool, that gong clearly goes to Mohamed Salah.

But Firmino is the most important. That shouldn’t even be a debate.

Klopp’s system requires a striker that can not only score goals, but can do pretty much everything. He scores goals. He assists. He contributes in defence.

Liverpool’s main asset is their pressing and that starts from the front; there is no striker in world football that can do it as well as Firmino.

Salah has been stunning this season, up there with the best players in the world. But he would not have had the same success without Firmino in the side. Not even close.

And a lot of Liverpool fans also agree with Carragher’s statement.
