Jurgen Klopp’s transfer activity last summer was nothing short of extraordinary. He convinced the Reds to sign Mohamed Salah from AS Roma, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal, Dominic Solanke from Chelsea and Andrew Robertson from Hull City. The cost of those four players? Just over £80 million.Okay, so Solanke hasn’t quite worked out, but he’s still young. His best years are ahead of him.The other three have all proved magnificent acquisitions, particularly Salah, who had scored 43 goals in 47 matches ahead of Wednesday night’s Champions League semi-final second leg against his former employers. While Salah is the undisputed standout summer signing, Robertson deserves special recognition from the impact that he’s made at Anfield, especially over recent months. The Scottish full-back, who cost just £8 million, has been excellent of late and is now a firm favourite among the Anfield faithful.

Wright's Twitter exchange with Shearer and Lineker

One man who had no doubts that Robertson would be a success at Liverpool is former Arsenal striker Ian Wright.

After watching Robertson’s impressive run just before Georginio Wijnaldum’s 25th-minute goal at the Stadio Olimpico - you can watch that video below - Wright immediately tweeted his Match of the Day colleagues Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker.

What Wright tweeted about Robertson last summer

By the looks of it, Wright was more convinced than either Lineker or Shearer that Robertson would be a success at Anfield.

Interestingly, when Robertson’s signing was announced, Wright told one of his followers that he’d been banging on about the left-back to Shearer when he was still a Hull City player during the 2016-17 campaign.

While Lineker’s tweet calling Wright a ‘scouting God’ is a stretch, it seems the latter knows a decent left-back when he sees one.
