Liverpool are in the Champions League final for the first time since 2007.

At the start of the season, Jurgen Klopp's outfit were tipped to struggle to even make it into the group stages of the competition after drawing Hoffenheim in the qualifying rounds.

Now, they're just 90 minutes away from their sixth European Cup.

Their 4-2 loss in Rome highlighted a lot of their flaws, but their 5-2 win in the previous leg at Anfield summed up why they can be the team to halt Real Madrid's dominance in Kiev.

Two of the key performers in the Italian capital for Liverpool were the midfield duo of James Milner and Jordan Henderson.

Without them, Roma could have turned the game around.

Milner was actually involved in a comical own-goal to make the game 1-1 in the first-half and his tweet after the game was absolutely brilliant. We don't deserve this man on social media.

MILNER'S TWEET

After the game, Milner was interviewed by the BT Sport cameras and was asked by the reporter whether he and his teammates would be enjoying a few drinks following their passage to the final.

His answer was pure gold.

"I might stretch to a Ribena."

Classic from Milner and Liverpool fans absolutely loved it.

FANS REACT

The English midfielder is actually renowned for completely abstaining from alcohol, so there may be some truth to his words.

It's quite amazing how Milner has forced his way back into Klopp's starting XI after spending a lot of time on the bench at the start of the season.

The likes of Emre Can, Philippe Coutinho and Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain kept him out of the side, but with all three either injured or moved on, Milner is thriving.

Against Real Madrid, Milner and Henderson will come up against formidable opposition in Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, but in the form they're in right now, you wouldn't bet against them masterminding another Liverpool win.
