You couldn’t blame Jurgen Klopp if he tries to wrap Mohamed Salah in cotton wool from now until the Champions League final.

The final might be more than three weeks away but the idea of facing Real Madrid in Kiev without the Egyptian King doesn’t bear thinking about.

Salah might not have enjoyed his best night against Roma in Liverpool's semi-final second-leg but his mere presence on the pitch distracts defenders given his form this season.

And his ridiculous 43 goals in all competitions has given him a genuine chance of beating both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to the 2018 Ballon d’Or.

And while Liverpool still need a victory to guarantee a top-four finish this season, you couldn’t blame Klopp for resting Salah in upcoming Premier League clashes against Chelsea and Brighton.

But it seems the player himself is doing all he can to avoid getting injured at such a crucial stage of the season.

That’s according to Alberto Moreno anyway, who claims his teammate is now only training at 20% to keep himself in peak condition for “big matches.”

WHAT SALAH IS DOING IN TRAINING TO STAY FULLY FIT

"Salah's an incredible guy. He's having an extraordinary year," Moreno said to reporters.

"I think Salah trains at 20 percent because he's scared of injuring himself.”

Let’s hope he’s playing at 100% come May 26 when Liverpool walk out at the Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kiev against Real Madrid.

While Salah will definitely be in the starting XI if he’s fit, one man that is unlikely to be playing is Moreno himself.

The Spaniard may have started the season well but since his injury, Andrew Robertson has made that left-back spot his own.

And Moreno is fully aware he’s likely to be on the bench for the Champions League final.

"I still don't believe I'm going to play a Champions League final," he said. "We have a great squad and we're going to fight for the Champions League.

"You have to tell manager Jurgen Klopp to put me in the final! Every player wants to play. I lost my first-team place because of injury. But now is not the time for that. Now is something to enjoy."
