So the Champions League final is set, with Liverpool and Real Madrid set to face off in Kiev on May 26 to determine the champions of Europe.

It promises to be an enthralling encounter between two teams who always put on a show. Liverpool have been sensational to watch all season and their semi-final tie against Roma, in which they nearly surrendered a 5-0 advantage, was no different.

Real, meanwhile, have looked vulnerable at times but Zinedine Zidane’s side just know what it takes to win in Europe. And if they overcome Jurgen Klopp’s men in the final, it will be a hat-trick of Champions League trophies for Los Blancos.

Much of the build up to the game will be centred on two players who have lit up Europe this season - Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah.

But Salah, who has scored 43 goals in all competitions for Liverpool this season, is keen to remind everyone that it will take a team effort to prevail in Ukraine.

“It is not going to be a final between Mohamed Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo,” the Egyptian said after Wednesday’s second leg against Roma.

“I am playing for a great club and we have great players, so qualifying to the final came with great teamwork. I cannot do it alone – it is collective work."

One man with an important part to play is Trent Alexander-Arnold, who faces the daunting prospect of lining up against Ronaldo.

That’s a scary thought for any player, let alone a 19-year-old.

But when Liverpool fans read what Alexander-Arnold has said about the thought of facing the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, any nerves they have may be erased.

The right-back joined Copa90 for FIFA and Chill after the 5-2 first leg win over Roma and he was asked what he thought about coming up against players of Ronaldo's ability.

“You look forward to them encounters because they test you the most,” he replied. “That’s the only way you can improve.”

Alexander-Arnold added: “Hopefully one day I might get to play against him, yeah, cos obviously he’s a legend.”

It doesn’t sound as if Alexander-Arnold is at all concerned about the idea of trying to stop Ronaldo.

And why should he, given the faith that Jurgen Klopp has shown in him?
