Despite being just 26-years-old, Kelvin Gastelum has established himself as one of the most dangerous fighters on the planet today.

Gastelum is the winner of season 17 of The Ultimate Fighter after he defeated Uriah Hall back in 2013. He was able to rack up an amazing 10 fight win streak in the UFC before suffering his first career loss to current welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.

Since then, Gastelum has improved tremendously and has racked up wins over the likes of Johny Hendricks, Tim Kennedy, Vitor Belfort, and Michael Bisping.

He has also shared the ring with former middleweight champion Chris Weidman, and although he put up a very competitive fight for up to three rounds, he was submitted by The All American.

Throughout his career Gastelum has flip flopped from welterweight to middleweight and has shown the ability to hang with the best at either weight class.

He comes off a win over former middleweight champion Michael Bisping who he knocked out in China in just two minutes.

Aside from his loss to Weidman, the other two men to have ever beat Gastelum are Neil Magny and Tyron Woodley. Both of those losses came via split decision - meaning one judge in each of those fights thought Gastelum won.

While a loss is indeed a loss, Gastelum put up a great fight that could've gone either way in the opinions of many.

In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Gastelum revealed that he'd love to get the opportunity to avenge his loss to Woodley - who is currently the welterweight champion in the world (quotes via MMA Junkie):

“Eventually, I’m going to be fighting for that title at middleweight, which is crazy,” Gastelum said.

“But yeah, in my eyes, in the back of my head, I still have welterweight in mind. That fight is like a splinter in my heart.

"I kind of want to get that fight back, make the weight, make it right. In a lot of people’s eyes, including myself, I won that fight.”

What are your thoughts on Gastelum saying he'd like to avenge his loss to Woodley at some point down the road? Do you think this fight will ever be made? And how do you think he'd fare given how both he and Woodley have evolved since then? Let us know your thoughts on the matter in the comments section below!
