Sometimes, seeing a champion hold a title for too long - like Brock Lesnar with the Universal Championship - can lead to understandably negative reactions from the fans who simply want to see the WWE take that particular star out of the championship picture.

Somebody who is on the opposite end of that spectrum is The Miz, as SmackDown LIVE’s A-Lister has proven time and time again that if the Intercontinental Championship is to mean something again, then it needs to be wrapped around his waist.

INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE

Despite being on the blue brand now, The Miz does have another chance at reclaiming the Intercontinental Championship after coming up short at the Greatest Royal Rumble in the Fatal 4-Way ladder match which also featured Seth Rollins, Samoa Joe and Finn Balor.

Although the expectation is that The Kingslayer will reign supreme to keep the gold on Monday Night RAW, Rollins will not only stop The Miz from capturing a ninth Intercontinental Championship and delay his attempt at breaking the record, but a loss for The Miz will end an incredible streak for him.

Reddit user FalconArrow123 brought the brilliant stat to surface, claiming that a win for Rollins means that the next Intercontinental Championship match on a pay-per-view - which is on the main card - could be the first to not feature The Miz since Fastlane 2016, where Kevin Owens retained against Dolph Ziggler.

Since WrestleMania 32, where Zack Ryder emerged victorious in the multi-man ladder match, The Miz has featured in every single Intercontinental Championship match whenever it has been featured on the main card, including any losses he might have suffered.

RECORD

The only exception to this comes back at WrestleMania 33. WWE booked The Miz to team up with Maryse to battle John Cena and Nikki Bella. However, the Intercontinental Championship wasn’t defended on the main card as Dean Ambrose battled Baron Corbin on the pre-show instead.

With The Miz consistently featuring in the Intercontinental Championship picture, it just goes to show how highly the company has valued him to continue putting him with the title for such a long period of time.

With Rollins heading in as the favourite, that streak looks to be coming to an end. However, you never know what can happen in the WWE and a win for The Miz - as unlikely as it seems - could see him improve on that amazing streak.
