Nobody can accuse Steven Gerrard of taking an easy option as he takes his first step into management.Gerrard was in a comfortable job at Liverpool Under-18’s and had performed well in his first season in charge. While he could have stayed at the club where he is a legend for many years, he’s decided to take a leap of faith to join Rangers.Everybody that watched the Old Firm derby last weekend will have seen just how far Rangers are behind Celtic at the moment, with The Bhoys triumphing 5-0 and claiming the SPL title in the process. And a glance at that table will show Rangers a massive 13 points behind their rivals.Gerrard has a very big job on his hands. But it seems as though everyone in football is wishing him all the very best.

TORRES SENDS BEAUTIFUL MESSAGE TO GERRARD

And the latest good luck wish has come in from former teammate Fernando Torres.

On Thursday night, Torres was busy helping his Atletico Madrid side qualify for the final of the Europa League as they triumphed over Arsenal.

But after hearing the news that Gerrard has been announced as the new Rangers boss, Torres just had to congratulate him.

“I wish you all the best in your new adventure. You are much more than qualified for continuing succeeding in football, now as a coach. Good luck in Glasgow Rangers Stevie #WelcomeGerrard #RangersFC”

Class.

Of course, Gerrard and Torres had a fantastic relationship during their playing days at Liverpool as they very nearly helped the club win their first ever Premier League title during the 2008/09 season.

Ten years on, Gerrard will now be hoping he can do something he never managed as a player - win a league title.
