Many fans can't understand why the WWE wouldn't want Batista back right now.

The former six-time world champion in WWE is currently starring in one of the highest grossing films of all time, The Avengers: Infinity War, and has expressed a desire to come back and finish his career in WWE.

However, the 49-year-old recently revealed that despite the company asking him to appear as Ronda Rousey's partner at WrestleMania 34, talks broke down and the WWE stopped calling him.

He said he sent texts to Triple H to ask The Game what was going on, and his former Evolution stablemate has ignored him.

Why would they do that? Surely the mainstream exposure Batista could bring the company right now and the sheer star power of his name would have made any kind of deal worthwhile.

Batista has made no secret of the fact that he wants to retire in the WWE and he wants to come full circle and do it against Triple H.

However, Brad Shepard from Bodyslam.net has reported his belief that the WWE is still harbouring some ill-feelings towards the veteran for the way he went and found success on his own without the company's help.

“Dave Bautista I believe he would have been a solid face of the company, he really could have done those appearances [that John Cena did]. Dave is a different kind of presence than John Cena but that’s not necessarily always bad it’s just different.”

“And I don’t really quite know what it is. They didn’t like that he went outside of WWE when they wouldn’t give him the opportunities he wanted and he found them on his own.”

Of course, stars like Randy Orton, John Cena and The Miz have all starred in WWE movie productions, but Batista was forced to carve out his own career on the big screen.

After landing a role in one of the biggest franchises of all-time - something the WWE passed on partnering up on because they didn't think it would be a success - and featuring in a James Bond film, it's safe to say the Animal has proved them wrong.
