There is one person pushing for GSP to return in a major way.

There’s still hope that he will fight again and this time it comes from former UFC fighter / UFC commentator Kenny Florian.

Make no mistake about it though, former UFC middleweight and welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre is having a rough time.

GSP overcame all of the odds in this fight as he recovered from ACL surgery and took 4 years away from the sport as well.

It was a storybook night for the UFC star, who picked up a third-round submission win over Michael Bisping in the main event of the UFC 217 PPV (pay-per-view) event in New York at Madison Square Garden to win the UFC middleweight title.

This win earned him the right to be called a two-division champion.

Plans for St-Pierre’s next fight are on hold as the former UFC middleweight champion is suffering from colitis and will be out of action indefinitely, according to UFC President Dana White.

GSP’s Brazilian jiu-jitsu coach, John Danaher, has gone on record by stating that St-Pierre would need time to decide if he would return to the Octagon in what he described as a “life-changing decision.”

He would go on to add that the reaction that the former champion had to his medications would play a big part in the decision.

“I think Georges will most likely fight,” Florian told Ariel Helwani on the latest episode of The MMA Hour.

“I think he’s going to fight in some kind of superfight scenario. I don’t think it’s going to be against a champion necessarily, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we see some kind of non-title fight that’s going to be big, and why not?

“Again, if there is one guy who deserves it, it’s Georges St-Pierre. He’s a guy that’s proven time and time again that he’s a big pay-per-view star and I think there are a lot of fun fights that you can make as well.”

Florian believes that fights with UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor would be enough to bring back the former two-division champion.

“Who would he fight? I think someone like a Khabib Nurmagomedov would be interesting. I don’t know if they’d make it a catch weight or something like that, but another person of course would be Conor McGregor.

“I think no matter what way you look at it those are the two biggest names in the sport. You’d have the biggest name in the sport from a past generation taking on the current biggest name, Conor McGregor. I think that would be a mega fight.”
