It's going to be a strange end to the season for Manchester United.

While Jose Mourinho's side look set to finish second in the Premier League despite their 1-0 loss away at Brighton on Friday night, fans and the manager are not happy with the current situation at the club.

Too many players are underperforming, with the gap to city rivals Manchester City not getting any smaller at the moment.

They can, of course, lift the FA Cup come the end of the season, with Chelsea the only team standing in there way.

Nevertheless, no amount of silverware will stop Mourinho embarking on a serious summer overhaul, with the likes of Matteo Darmian set to be sold.

And it looks like United have agreed their first major deal for the summer, one which could be a game-changer.

The Sun reported on Saturday night that the Red Devils have agreed a stunning £80m deal for Lazio's highly-rated midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

The 23-year-old has been in stunning form this season, scoring 11 Serie A goals and adding another two in the Europa League.

And the man who has engineered the deal is quite a surprising name; former Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman.

The Sun write: "Kezman, one of Mourinho’s first signings in England, is agent to the midfielder.

"And his relationship with the Special One put Manchester United in pole position to land Sergej despite Europe’s top clubs looking to swoop."

Milinkovic-Savic will likely feature in a midfield three with fellow countryman Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba next season, despite Ander Herrera's impressive form of late.

That trio could be the powerful, skilful midfield system that United need in order to go about dethroning Manchester City.
