Amir Khan made quite the entrance on his return the boxing world.

Khan’s first fight since his chastening loss to Saul Canelo Alvarez two years ago lasted just 40 seconds, as he simply blew Phil Lo Greco away with a staggering flurry of hits that felled his opponent twice.

Very few people were expecting Khan to so dramatically kick down the door on his return, but the Brit proved once again that he is one of the most underrated boxers in the country when he set the Echo Arena in Liverpool alight.

“People just wanted to see me come back and I wanted to prove a point and come back. I’m two years out of the ring but I’m back with a big bang,” said Khan shortly after humbling Lo Greco.

However, after his fight, attention unsurprisingly turned back to the heavyweight division, with Tyson Fury announcing his return to the sport, David Haye and Tony Bellew firing verbal jabs at each other every five seconds, and rumours batting about with regards to Anthony Joshua’s next opponent.

Joshua and Wilder have been threatening to settle on terms, but as of yet, nothing concrete has been decided as negotiations lurch from one disagreement to the next, while Fury remains tight-lipped on who will actually be facing upon his return.

Khan names his number one heavyweight

Either way, well it may be a little frustrating, it is undoubtedly a very exciting time for the heavyweight division as rumours of possible mega-bouts persist.

The debate has long since been raging as to who is the best in the division and now Khan, whose opinion is suddenly relevant again after his scintillating performance in Liverpool, has had his say on who he thinks is the best.

Footage has emerged on YouTube of Khan chatting about the myriad of talent on offer in the heavyweight division.

“You’ve got people like Joshua, Wilder, and Fury, you’ve got David [Haye],” said Khan.

“I mean there’s so many big names.”

He was then asked the question everyone wanted to know the answer to and his answer was emphatic.

Reporter: “Who is number one for you?”

Khan: “Tyson Fury, by far - Tyson Fury is a beast. He would beat anyone - Joshua might be stronger than him, but I think he’s a better fighter."

Well there you have it. You can just imagine Fury unsheathing that famous smile after hearing those comments.

Joshua probably won’t be too phased by them though.

Please can someone make Fury v Joshua happen?
