There's quite a bit of confusion surrounding Chelsea going into next season.

Manager Antonio Conte may or may not still be with the club he led to the Premier League title in 2017 - the Italian has had an uncomfortable season at Chelsea that has seen clashes behind the scenes over transfers, although he has still helped mastermind a route to the FA Cup final.

There looks sure to be a clearout of some sorts, with Blues fans hoping with everything they've got that Eden Hazard isn't one of those who move on as Real Madrid continue their interest.

Some failed signings last summer and certain players who don't fit the plan will surely be sold - although the fact that Champions League qualification is up in the air only confuses things further.

Chelsea look unlikely to make it into next year's competition but there is still hope, should results go their way over the next week.

And if all of that didn't make things confusing enough, the latest reported signing for the team only adds to it.

£30million is being rumoured for a player that virtually everyone had completely written off.

The Mirror reports that Adama Traore - yes, that one - is on the brink of a move to Stamford Bridge.

Traore first arrived in England with Aston Villa in 2015 having previously been on the books of Barcelona.

Things really did not go to plan there as the youngster failed to make any sort of impact beyond impressing people with his speed - a theme he continued upon joining Middlesbrough at the start of last season.

Zero goals in two years were enough for most to write off Traore's chances of ever fulfilling the potential Barcelona once considered him to have, although things have taken a huge upswing this year.

Traore has scored or assisted 15 goals this season and put in a series of performances that have led to Premier League clubs taking notice in him once again.

Boro still have ambitions of top-flight football themselves next year and won't sell lightly - hence the expensive £30million fee.

It would be a real gamble for Chelsea - but why not? Anything could happen at Stamford Bridge.
