Liverpool might be stuttering over the line when it comes to finishing in the top-four in the Premier League this season but you can’t really blame them.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have picked up just one win in their previous five league matches and could go into the final day needing to beat Brighton to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Of course, there’s another way of qualifying for the competition and that’s by winning it.

And Liverpool could well do that.

They face Real Madrid in the final in Kiev on May 26, and it seems they’re already a bit distracted.

Madrid are, of course, looking to win the competition for a third consecutive year and it will take an almighty effort from Klopp’s side to stop them from doing just that.

However, Liverpool have every chance to win their sixth European Cup.

SALAH VS MARCELO IN THE FINAL

To do so, they could well by relying on Mohamed Salah.

Salah may not have scored in his previous three matches but has notched 43 goals in his debut season at the club.

And if Salah was watching El Clasico on Sunday night, he’d have been licking his lips.

That’s because Marcelo went on a walkabout on a couple of occasions against Barcelona - something Salah could really take advantage of in the final.

That’s what Spanish football expert Guillem Balague thinks anyway.

Writing for Sky Sports, Balague feels Salah will have a “huge opportunity” to take advantage of Marcelo’s lapses in concentration in Kiev.

“The first half witnessed the return of the B-B-C and it worked for 45 minutes, though we saw Marcelo lose his position, as he does so often, to allow Luis Suarez to open the scoring,” Balague said.

“He stepped up high to apply pressure, but when he was beaten he didn't track back. Four other Real Madrid players got back to the penalty area before he did - and he is supposed to be the full-back!

“Mo Salah will be looking at that as a huge opportunity to make an impact. There will be space created because Marcelo doesn't have 90 minutes of full concentration in him.”

You can’t disagree with that.

Marcelo is considered one of the finest left-backs in world football. However, as seen in Madrid’s semi-final against Bayern, he can often be caught well out of position.

And we’ve seen this season that if you give Salah half a yard, he’s most likely going to take it.
