If Sunday night's EL Clasico was lacking something, it certainly wasn't controversy. It seems every time that Barcelona and Real Madrid lock horns, the referee is placed under unparalleled pressure and big decisions ensue. It just wouldn't be one of world football's biggest rivalries if there wasn't penalties, red cards and clashes at every turn. The latest instalment of the rivalry certainly provided that, too, even if the bulk of the controversy actually regarded decisions that weren't made. The big flash point of the match came before half-time when Sergio Roberto was dismissed for a clash with Marcelo where he appeared to slap the Real Madrid man after being originally pushed.Sergio Ramos also got himself into trouble for a spat with Luis Suarez, which Lionel Messi felt it was necessary to get revenge for with a heavy tackle seconds later.

Controversy galore in El Clasico

That's not to mention Gareth Bale being a rather lucky boy to stay on the pitch after a challenge on Samuel Umtiti that, on another day, could have been both a red card and possibly even a leg breaker.

Throw in the fact that Ramos accused Messi of influencing the referee in the tunnel at half-time, maybe or maybe not affecting a controversial second-half penalty call, and you have your fair share of controversy.

And breathe.

Pique dropped edgy comment to Casemiro

The moral of the story, though, is that Barcelona felt themselves rather hard done by in the first-half and that was no more reflected by Gerard Pique.

Aside from his exchange with Nacho in the tunnel, new footage has emerged of the Spain centre-back having a conversation with Casemiro during the match.

The clip shows Pique telling the Brazilian: "Puedes hacer las faltas que quieras, no hay amarilla," during a break in play.

Translation: "You can make whatever fouls you like, you won't get booked."

It's not easy to tell whether Pique is fooling around or is dropping a genuinely controversial comment, but his countenance seems to suggest the latter.

After all, the footage shows Casemiro saw it as no joke - reacting angrily to the statement.

Pique is perhaps the most vocal member of the Barcelona squad when it comes to the fiery rivalry they have with Real Madrid.

And with all the controversial decisions unfolding during the match, it's form for Pique to drop such a comment.

When you consider Bale didn't even receive a caution for his Umtiti tackle, though, perhaps there's some sympathy to be had with the 31-year-old.

He looked far too serious for the episode to be simply be brushed aside, however. Casemiro let him off on this occasion.
