Jadon Sancho and Ademola Lookman are reaping the benefits of their decisions to leave England and head abroad.
With opportunities scarce in the Premier League, Sancho and Lookman both realised they could gain valuable playing time in Europe - specifically, Germany.
Sancho left Manchester City for Borussia Dortmund while Lookman, 20, has spent the season on loan at RB Leipzig from Everton.
And both have made an impact, with Lookman scoring twice and Sancho providing an assist at the weekend.
It’s highly likely that many other young English players will follow a similar path.
But if you think Sancho and Lookman are brave in their attempts to make a name for themselves abroad, just look at Ryan Nolan.
Nolan is a 19-year-old defender from Ireland who is turning heads at Inter Milan.
Meet Ryan Nolan
The teenager has lived abroad since the age of eight, relocating to Murcia in Spain. Nolan represented Murcia and he was spotted by Inter while playing in an Under-16 tournament against other big Spanish regions including Madrid and Catalonia.
“When I signed for Inter, [legendary Inter scout Pierluigi] Casiraghi, who was a good friend of Liam Brady, was saying to me I'm the third Irish player to be at Inter including Robbie Keane,” Nolan told the Daily Mail.
“If I can have half the career they've had I will be happy. It was something I've always dreamed as a kid.
“It was the first time leaving my parents. It was hard. We went off to Austria for pre-season and you run a lot. The intensity and level of football is obviously a lot higher than when I was back in Spain.”
It was in 2015 when Nolan arrived in Milan, where he has already trained with the first team under manager Luciano Spalletti and gone up against Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic in sessions.
"When I am marking Icardi and Perisic it is a big ask but it helps me learn," Nolan said. "If you can mark them you can mark anyone in the world, I would say. Icardi especially has great movement.
"I've trained with them a few times but that next step is a big step at the moment."
Nolan, a Manchester United supporter who used to watch Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand as a kid, has won the Under-19 Supercoppa and the Vareggio Cup with Inter’s primavera side this season.
He’s been watched by Premier League clubs, with Liverpool among the observers.
The future certainly seems bright for the 19-year-old from Shannon, County Clare.
