The transfer reports are circling at Manchester United and it doesn't look promising for Anthony Martial.

Since the arrival of Jose Mourinho to Old Trafford, the Frenchman has been a victim of inconsistency and his career at the club has stagnated after initial success.

The days of efficient goalscoring under Louis van Gaal seem a long time ago now.

And when rumours of whom Mourinho plans to sell in the summer emerge, the majority suggest that Martial is one of the players in the firing line.

The 22-year-old undoubtedly has bags of talent yet it seems Mourinho doesn't consider him good enough to hold his own in the United attack.

United considering selling Martial

A season of 11 goals in 44 appearances just hasn't done enough to blow away the fans or staff.

That being said, his future isn't clear cut and while a summer departure wouldn't be too great of a surprise, the Red Devils won't allow him to leave for nothing.

There's still a quiet understanding that Martial could go onto be quite the player going forward.

United interested in Pulisic

One of the ways United could utilise question marks over his future is by using him as a makeweight in a big summer transfer and the latest report from the Mirror suggests that's exactly the case.

That's because United have their sights set on Borussia Dortmund's Christian Pulisic.

It’s an announcement that won’t go down well with Liverpool fans who, if reports are to be believed, have tracked the winger for some time now.

The versatile forward is one of the most sought after young players on the continent and now United have joined the chase for his signature, potentially offering a cash-plus-Martial deal.

Pulisic - who has also attracted interest from Chelsea and Arsenal - has eight goals and six assists to his name this season, accumulating 49 appearances for Dortmund at just the age of 19.

As exciting as the winger is, there's no doubt that the move would irk some United fans.

Swapping a young exciting forward for a slightly younger exciting forward could seem counter-intuitive to many.

Martial has become something of a fan's favourite, so it would upset supporters to see him leave in such circumstances.

Nevertheless, the report reiterates that Mourinho has grown tired of the 22-year-old and that he is indeed set for a summer exit.
