Is Manchester United the best place for Marcus Rashford to fulfil his incredible potential?

The 20-year-old has made 49 appearances in all competitions this season - with only Romelu Lukaku playing in more games than him.

However, 90 minutes have been very hard to come by for Rashford under Jose Mourinho.

And the Portuguese boss isn’t exactly encouraging of the youngster in press conferences.

Following United’s 1-0 loss to Brighton last Friday in the absence of Lukaku, Mourinho explained why he always starts the Belgian striker, hinting Rashford’s poor performance is why he often has to make do with substitute appearances.

"For 10 months I get asked 'why always Lukaku? Why always Lukaku? Why always this player?'" Mourinho said.

"'That guy doesn't have a chance to start, the other one is on the bench'. You know why now."

RASHFORD IS SO DESPERATE TO IMPROVE

But you can’t doubt Rashford’s determination to become a better player.

At the start of the season, it was reported that he had installed a £50,000 Cryotherapy chamber in his house to help improve his recovery after matches.

And now, Manchester Evening News have revealed what Rashford did earlier this season to help improve as a winger.

They claim that he requested special software to analyse how his game differs to other world-class wingers around the world.

M.E.N write: "Only Rashford is surrounded by good people who keep him grounded and earlier this season he requested specific software so he could compare and analyse his own performances with players who play in the same role elsewhere.”

That’s dedication.

He may not be impressing his manager with his performances on the pitch right now but at least he’s working hard at improving.

Even England manager Gareth Southgate was amazed by Rashford's determination to get better and better.

"What I like about him is his humility and the mentality. He just constantly wants to improve," Southgate said last year.

If Mourinho doesn’t want him at United, there will be plenty of top European clubs wanting to help Rashford reach the very top level.

He’s certainly got the attitude to succeed.
