The Houston Rockets have advanced to the Western Conference Finals after overcoming the Utah Jazz in five games. They secured a 112-102 win at home in game five on Tuesday night to set up a rematch of the 2015 conference finals with the Golden State Warriors. The star of the show was definitely Chris Paul as he produced a career night to lead Houston past Utah.

CP3 poured in a playoff career-high 41 points and also flirted with a triple-double by adding seven rebounds and 10 assists.

Paul will finally compete in a conference final for the first time in his 13-year career and it was clear that he had a determination to end his long drought after past failings.

"He went out there and took over the game," teammate James Harden said after the game, per ESPN. "(To have) an opportunity for him that he's never had before. He went to go get it. He put us all on his back and said listen: `I got us."

The 33-year-old dropped eight three-pointers and committed no turnovers in the game. He is now the first player in playoff history to have at least 40 points and 10 assists without a turnover since turnovers became an official statistic in 1977-78, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

This performance shows just why the Rockets acquired him from the Los Angeles Clippers in the summer.

The point guard picked up the slack offensively as Harden had a bad shooting night going just 7-of-22 for 19 points.

For Utah, it's the end of a successful season as nobody predicted they could even make the playoffs after the departure of Gordon Hayward in the summer.

But they have a real superstar in the making in Donovan Mitchell who enjoyed a sensational rookie year.

He once again led them in scoring with 24 points on 9-of-17 shooting - 22 of his points coming in the third quarter.

For Houston, their attention now switches to the matchup they've been preparing for all season long as the defending champions lie in wait.

Game one of the hugely anticipated series with the Warriors begins on Monday night at the Toyota Center.
