Jurgen Klopp has shown during his time at Liverpool that he’s ready to give a chance to the club’s youth players.

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have come in and made a difference but Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez have both been regulars this season, while 18-year-old Ben Woodburn was handed his senior debut in 2016.

It’s this youthful exuberance which, combined with the talents of Salah and Mane, has helped Liverpool develop into one of the most interesting clubs to watch in Europe.

And they have a Champions League final at the end of May to show for their efforts.

There will be more arrivals in the summer to bolster the squad, with Naby Keita among the incomings, and there will also be a number of players returning from loan spells eager to get a chance in the first team.

Fifteen players have been sent out on loan in recent months, from Daniel Sturridge to Sheyi Ojo, and some have grasped the opportunity to play regularly with both hands.

Others, unfortunately, haven’t.

The Liverpool Echo decided to take a long at how each one fared.

Marko Grujic | Cardiff City

Grujic has helped Neil Warnock’s Cardiff earn promotion to the Premier League, which will certainly look good on his resume.

The deep-lying midfielder made 14 appearances, scoring once, and there is a belief that he has a future at Anfield.

Harry Wilson | Hull City

Hull are eager to take Wilson out on loan again next season and it’s not hard to understand why.

The 21-year-old scored seven goals and provided four assists in 14 appearances, marking an excellent spell.

Unfortunately for the Tigers, Wilson is eager to show he can do it in the first team.

Ryan Kent | Bristol City

The winger was loaned out to Bristol City in January but he’s had a rough time at the Championship club.

Kent, 21, started five consecutive matches in the early stages but he didn’t even make the bench in Bristol City’s final six games of the season.

His time at Bristol City followed an equally disappointing loan spell at Bundesliga side Freiburg.

Sheyi Ojo | Fulham

Ojo was a regular until he injured his leg in January and missed six weeks of the season.

He’s since struggled to regain his place in the starting line-up and missed the last five games of the season.

Liverpool fans will hope to see Ojo in the Championship play-offs, where Fulham are hoping to secure a return to the Premier League.

Ovie Ejaria | Sunderland

Ejaria tried to make the most of a difficult situation at Sunderland, who were relegated to League One this season.

He made 11 appearances - nine as a starter - and scored in the season-finale victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Divock Origi | Wolfsburg

It’s been a mixed season for Origi in Germany.

It started positively - he was nominated for the Bundesliga’s Rookie of the Month award in November - but his form tailed off and he even fell out with Wolfsburg’s manager.

The striker managed five goals and two assists in 30 league matches, which won’t be enough to convince Klopp.

Wolfsburg could be relegated from the Bundesliga this weekend.

Lazar Markovic | Anderlecht

Markovic has played regularly for the Belgian club since the start of April, playing an important part in the end-of-season play-offs, and HLN are reporting that Anderlecht want to make the Serbian’s stay a permanent one.

Taiwo Awoniyi | Mouscron

The Nigerian forward scored 10 goals and provided seven assists in 31 games for the Belgian side.

His season was brought to an end in April due to a hamstring injury.

Pedro Chirivella | Willem II

It’s been an important season for Chirivella, who has made 35 appearances for Willem II.

That’s exactly what Klopp will have wanted for the central midfielder, 20.

Allan Rodrigues | Apollon Limassol

Rodrigues has battled shoulder injuries throughout the season and Liverpool’s medical staff thought it best to cut short his loan spell in April to undergo an operation.

The Brazilian midfielder, 21, made 16 appearances for the Cypriot club.

He still won’t qualify for a UK work permit this season so will be loaned out again for the 2018-19 season, with German, French and Portuguese clubs being considered.

Jon Flanagan | Bolton Wanderers

The right-back hasn’t kicked on as many expected he would.

He made nine appearances for Bolton, missing out as the Trotters saved their Championship status on the final day of the season, and Alexander-Arnold's appears to be Liverpool's right-back of the future.

Corey Whelan | Yeovil Town

The full-back, who joined Yeovil in January, managed one goal in 11 appearances for the League Two club, who finished 19th in the table.

Matty Virtue | Notts County

Virtue quickly established himself at Notts County after arriving in January and the midfielder has a play-off semi-final against Coventry to look forward to.

Connor Randall | Hearts

A loan spell at Hearts has served Randall well. The defender played in 26 matches for the Scottish club.

Daniel Sturridge | West Bromwich Albion

The striker had a chance for some valuable minutes but he suffered an injury in his third match for the Baggies.

Sturridge is out of contract in the summer and he appears destined to move on.

West Brom hoped Sturridge’s arrival in January would help them avoid the drop but he wasn’t on the pitch enough. Despite Darren Moore’s best efforts, relegation to the Championship was confirmed with Southampton’s 1-0 victory over Swansea.
