Yaya Toure has played an enormous role in Manchester City's rise to the summit of English football. The Ivorian powerhouse has scored 59 goals in 229 Premier League games for the club, securing his third winners' medal in the competition this term. However, his game time has hugely diminished since Pep Guardiola took over the reins at the Etihad Stadium in 2016, and after eight years at the club it has been announced that he will depart when the season finishes. At the age of 34, and operating in a central midfield role, you would expect that this doesn't spell the end of his career though.Toure still has a fair amount to offer, not least his skill from dead ball situations and long-range shooting, for which he has become so famous for at City.He has captained the side on numerous occasions, and was given the honour once again for tonight's visit of Brighton, his final game as a Citizen at home. That was despite the presence of official club captain Vincent Kompany in the starting line-up, and was a brilliant show of respect for his efforts over the years.City weren't done there though, and added another fitting tribute to the Ivorian on their Twitter feed before the game.

They changed Toure's name under his picture in the teamsheet graphic to 'legend', and he certainly is seen as one of those at the Etihad.

A picture of his famous number 42 shirt was then uploaded to the website too with another short but excellent caption.

And it was a good way for Toure to bow out at the Etihad, as his side moved closer to becoming the first Premier League team to break the 100 points barrier with a 2-1 victory.

Danilo and Bernardo Silva struck either side of Leonardo Ulloa's equaliser for the visitors, before Fernandinho added a third, to take them to 97 points.

They scored their 104th and 105th goals this term to beat Chelsea's previous record total with a game to spare.

Records have been set aplenty for the Citizens since Touré joined the club, and it looks as though they will continue to tumble for as long as Guardiola stays at the club.

Unfortunately for Toure, he won't be around any longer to bask in the glory of it.
