Owls swoop for free Morrison

Sheffield Wednesday have signed former Republic of Ireland striker Clinton Morrison on a free transfer from Coventry.

The 31-year-old becomes Alan Irvine's eighth summer signing as the Owls boss looks to plot an immediate return to the npower Championship.

Morrison, who was out of contract at the Ricoh Arena, has scored 151 goals in 413 professional starts in a career which has taken in two spells with Crystal Palace, a £4.2million move to Birmingham in 2002 and 37 international caps.

He joins new arrivals Chris Sedgwick, Jon Otsemobor, Paul Heffernan, Daniel Jones, Giles Coke, Gary Teale and Neil Mellor at Hillsborough.
