As Liverpool prepare to take on Real Madrid in the Champions League final later this month, it's worth sparing a thought for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.Not only will the 24-year-old miss the final in Kiev, but he's also been ruled out of the World Cup in Russia this summer with England.Oxlade-Chamberlain suffered a serious knee injury against AS Roma in the semi-finals at Anfield, which saw him stretchered down the tunnel. It's since been confirmed he will miss the rest of the season and faces a summer of recovery, much to Jurgen Klopp's dismay."I cannot believe this wonderful player and person - in such a positive situation helping the team - has something like this happen," said Klopp after the Roma game."It is a shame. It is not fair, to be honest. This is how life is sometimes. If you get a lemon, get a lemonade from it. He will be back."We will wait for him like a good wife when a man is in prison."

HEARTBREAK FOR THE OX

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been fantastic for Liverpool since joining from Arsenal last summer, especially when played in his favoured central midfield role.

A long road to recovery awaits the Englishman and on Thursday, after undergoing knee surgery, he posted a lovely tweet with a heartbreaking picture of himself watching Liverpool in hospital.

"Watching the boys in Rome last week taking us one step closer to something very special," he wrote. "Knee surgery was a success and the hard work has already begun."

Poor guy. Liverpool fans have grown to adore Oxlade-Chamberlain not just for his performances but also his class away from the pitch and have wished him a speedy recovery.

He has a promising future at Anfield, so hopefully it won't be too long before he's back and playing under Klopp again.
