Few players relish the limelight more than Zlatan Ibrahimovic. And so Los Angeles, the city of angles and the home of some of the world’s most famous celebrities, was the ideal place for the legendary Swedish forward to wind down his glittering career. The 36-year-old signed for LA Galaxy in March after Manchester United agreed to terminate his contract early and one of his first actions was to take out a full-page advertisement in the LA Times featuring the words: “Dear Los Angeles, You’re welcome.”Zlatan then proved he was more than just talk during his debut for the Galaxy. His side were 3-1 down against Los Angeles FC when he came off the bench in the 71st minute. Final score? 4-3 to the Galaxy.Zlatan scored two goals - a 40-yard wonder strike and the winning goal - to secure a memorable victory over the Galaxy’s cross-city rivals.“[The fans] were shouting ‘We want Zlatan’. I gave them Zlatan,” Ibra said after the game.

What Zlatan did for audience on The Late Late Show

The guy is - and always has been - pure Box Office, which is why Hollywood is perfect for him.

It’s no surprise that some of America’s biggest talk shows have conducted interviews with the veteran striker since his arrival. This week he featured on The Late Late Show, which is hosted by Britain’s very own James Corden.

Zlatan was in top form throughout and even did something for every member of the audience which deserves complete respect.

Just before the show finished, Corden announced: “One more thing, this is hugely exciting, Zlatan has bought a pair of tickets for everyone in the audience tonight for [LA Galaxy’s upcoming] match against FC Dallas. What an incredible thing - you’re all going to the game!” (Skip to 1:16 to watch the clip…)

Expensive gesture

The audience loved it - even though many of them probably knew next to nothing about football - and will now be in attendance at the Stubhub Centre on May 31.

The Daily Mail revealed in March that Zlatan took a 95 per cent pay cut to join the Galaxy and is currently earning ‘just’ £850,000-per-annum.

All of those tickets would have set him back a few quid.

However, given his career earnings and the money that still roles in from various sponsorship deals, we doubt Zlatan will be feeling the pinch too much this month.
