Michael Bisping is one of the pioneers of the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA). The former 185-pound champion has been competing in the cage since 2004.

The Englishman started off his career 14-0 before losing the first fight of his career to Rashad Evans via split decision in November of 2007. For the remainder of his career Bisping would chase a light heavyweight or middleweight title.

Bisping was always able to fight his way into a contenders fight but could never get past that hurdle; losing to names such as Dan Henderson, Wanderlei Silva, Chael Sonnen, Vitor Belfort, Tim Kennedy, and Luke Rockhold.

Eventually, Bisping was able to rack up a three-fight win streak that would earn him the opportunity at the 185-pound title. He replaced Chris Weidman at UFC 199 to challenge Rockhold for his middleweight title.

Rockhold greatly underestimated Bisping, who knocked him out in the first round. He'd go on to defend his title successfully against Dan Henderson before dropping it to Georges St-Pierre this past November.

Bisping would make a shockingly quick return to the cage weeks later, after getting choked out by St-Pierre, only to get knocked out cold by Kelvin Gastelum.

Since then, Bisping has contemplated retirement and has teased a potential farewell fight in his home country of England.

Speculation has begun to run rampant as to who Bisping could fight in his retirement bout, with names such as Nick Diaz and Luke Rockhold being tossed around.

In a recent episode of his Believe You Me podcast, Bisping revealed that he's probably retired unless a really good offer comes through for him to fight again (quotes via MMA News):

“I’m retired unless such a good offer comes through, I’m retired, I am. I just haven’t made it official. I have no intention of fighting, let’s be honest.

"I’m retired. I haven’t made it official yet but I’m probably retired. Now of course when I say probably, that still gives me a window to come back but I’m probably retired.”

What are your thoughts on Bisping saying that he's probably retired? Do you think he'll ever return to the cage for one last fight? And who would you like to see him fight in his retirement match? Let us know your thoughts on the matter in the comments section below!
