Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino has been an integral part of Liverpool's free-flowing attacking football this season.

Mohamed Salah is the club's top scorer but Firmino has racked up 27 goals and 17 assists in all competitions.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has regularly praised the 26-year-old frontman, who was recently handed a new long-term deal at Anfield.

“He’s very important,” Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com earlier in 2018.

“Roberto delivers, delivers and delivers. He doesn’t score all the time, he is not always brilliant, but if he is not brilliant then he works like a horse. It’s very important that you have this kind of stability there."

Liverpool fans were delighted when Firmino committed his future to the club at the end of April.

The Reds - who are due to face Real Madrid in the Champions League final on May 26 - have just one Premier League game remaining and need a single point at home to Brighton to secure a top four spot.

Firmino's heatmap

The season is coming to a close and Liverpool fans have been looking at Firmino's mightily impressive heatmap for the 2017/18 season, via the sofa livescore app.

It shows just how involved the Brazilian international is all over the pitch.

The former Hoffenheim star offers so much more than just goals.

Lukaku's heatmap

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has enjoyed a brilliant debut season at Old Trafford, scoring 26 goals in all competitions.

The 24-year-old has been excellent but his heatmap shows that he has been far less involved then Liverpool's number 9.

Nonetheless, Lukaku has been very impressive.

Vardy's heatmap

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has scored more Premier League goals than both Lukaku and Firmino.

He's much more of a 'penalty box striker' and his heatmap proves that.

Firmino offers so much more than a traditional centre forward and it's clear that Salah and Sadio Mane have benefitted.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher recently suggested that Firmino is Klopp's most important player.

"I love Firmino, he’s probably my favourite player," Carragher told Goal. "What Salah is doing is “wow” but I love watching Firmino play.

"His touch, the way he links the play, his strength, his working back. And I can’t believe that some people still say we need a centre-forward!

"I hear pundits on TV saying it and it’s like, “Oh my god!” He’s got 27 goals! And he’s not just a penalty-box striker. He doesn’t take loads of penalties.

"I think he’s arguably Klopp’s most important player, for how we press, what we do. He’s just brilliant."
