Ferguson on the road to recovery

It was even reported in The Sun that the Scotsman's very first words after the brain operation were 'How did Doncaster get on?' in reference to his son's managerial career.

He also talked up the possibility of attending the Champions League final in order to watch Cristiano Ronaldo, despite the fact he admitted defeat over watching the FA Cup climax live.

United's final home game with Watford will also be out of reach for the recovering Ferguson.

Man Utd fans' banner for Fergie

It proves the perfect opportunity for supporters to pay respects to such a legendary figure at the club and an overall, brilliant man.

And, despite the game being two days away, the fans have already prepared a touching gesture and it comes in the form of a new banner upon the Stratford End.

The banner simply reads: 'Every single one of us loves Sir Alex Ferguson.'

Take a look at the photographs below:

What a brilliant gesture from the club and supporters. Respect.

The players will also be hoping to put on a performance worthy of the great man against Watford in order to finish their home season on a high and gain momentum for the trip to Wembley.

The banner placement comes on the same day that Ferguson's family have spoken out about the ordeal, too, with his son Darren releasing a statement.

The Doncaster boss stated: “On behalf of myself and my family, I would like to thank the huge number of people who have been kind enough to send messages of support during a difficult time.

“It has been overwhelming to read how many people care and that they are thinking of my dad and willing his recovery.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at Macclesfield Hospital and at the Salford Royal who have been truly magnificent. We continue to request privacy during this vital period of recovery.”

Get well soon, Fergie.
