If WWE fans needed any extra reasons to dislike Roman Reigns even more than they already do, then watching a feud with Jinder Mahal is the way to do that.

That storyline kicked off on Monday Night RAW this week as The Big Dog tried to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match. After being denied his own opportunity, The Modern Day Maharaja decided to get involved by costing the former Shield member a chance to grab the briefcase.

FEUD

Instead, we’re now getting a feud between two members of the RAW roster that the WWE Universe isn’t really behind. In Mahal’s case, it’s a sense of fans simply not liking with him with his push looking forced to please one section of the fans - and let’s not get started with the problems Reigns is having right now.

Eventually, the speculated plan is that Reigns will meet Brock Lesnar - again - to capture the Universal Championship. At first, it was thought that it could happen at the Money in the Bank event but with The Beast not competing on the June show, his next defence is at SummerSlam against either Reigns or possibly Braun Strowman.

This is why a feud has been created with Mahal, so he has something to do until his SummerSlam feud kicks off. However, based on his advertised opponents before the Superstar Shake-up took place, Mahal wasn’t the opponent WWE had in mind.

According to NoDQ, the Reigns vs. Mahal matches are being advertised throughout July, which indicates that it’s going to be a lengthy feud.

ORIGINAL PLANS?

However, the original advertisements saw Reigns booked in matches against Samoa Joe, but that has now been changed to Mahal. That was the case until Joe moved to the blue brand in the Shake-up while Mahal made his way over to the Monday night show and lost his United States Championship on his first night.

This does make sense, as a one-and-done match against Joe at the recent Backlash event didn’t really make any sense or has any real value, other than allowing them to head to their respective shows and beginning new feuds.

So, the original advertisements suggest a Reigns and Joe feud would have continued if the WWE decided to keep the former two-time NXT Champion on the red brand rather than sending him over to SmackDown LIVE.
