There is one fight that would bring back Vitor Belfort.

That fight would be against MMA Legend Fedor Emelianenko. It should be noted that this fight would have to happen outside of the UFC for the time being. It’s not out of the question that it could happen.

As seen in the main event of the Bellator 198 event at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois on the Paramount Network, the MMA Legend finished former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir with strikes in the first round of their Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix Quarterfinal bout.

Now, Fedor will move forward in the tournament and is slated to the fight former middleweight and light heavyweight contender Chael Sonnen later this year.

On the flip side, Belfort is expected to face former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida at the upcoming UFC 224 pay-per-view event.

UFC 224 is set to take place on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The main card will air on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET while the preliminary card will air on FX at 8 p.m. ET and the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass, at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Amanda Nunes vs. Raquel Pennington in a female bantamweight title fight will headline this event while Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza vs. Kelvin Gastelum in a middleweight bout will serve as the co-headliner.

Rounding out the five bout main card is Mackenzie Dern vs. Amanda Cooper in a women’s strawweight bout, and John Lineker vs. Brian Kelleher in a bantamweight bout.

Belfort stated in a recent interview that although this will be his last fight, he’s not retiring. However, if there is one fight that would bring him back it would be against Fedor.

“Fedor, that’s a fight that was supposed to happen back in Afflictionm” Belfort told Combate. “I think he was supposed to fight Josh Barnett, who pulled out, and I was supposed to fight Jorge Santiago. So they asked me if I wanted to fight Fedor and I said ‘of course’, but it didn’t happen.”

“Fedor is a legend as well. It would’ve been so cool to fight him, it was a personal challenge. He was in his prime, he had never lost before. People told me I was crazy, but I told them to be cool, I was known for being a crazy dude since I was little. There’s lots of money in Russia now, there won’t be a lack of money to pay for this fight.”
