When you take into consideration the level of hate Roman Reigns continues to receive to this day, you could argue that the solution to fix the problem of getting him over as the face of the company is simple - turn him heel.

Obviously, that’s the complete opposite of what WWE wants to do with The Big Dog. The hope is to have the fans embrace him as he ushers the company into a new era.

DIFFICULTIES

The WWE Universe, though, are making it increasingly difficult for that to happen.

Negative reactions and chants, blasting him and the company on social media and leaving the arena early. They’re just some of the signs that show Reigns simply isn’t getting over with the audience. The more the WWE and Vince McMahon try to push Reigns down their collective throats, the more backlash they’re going to receive.

Turning him heel obviously extends the company’s plans. It means it could take a little longer for Reigns to eventually turn face down the line after causing havoc and becoming a top heel the world knows he can be. It worked for his cousin, The Rock, while Reigns has even more of a perfect look to be a destructive heel and cement himself as ‘The Guy’ even further.

That’s what WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin thinks as well.

Speaking on his podcast, The Steve Austin Show, The Texas Rattlesnake admitted that even he gets fired up when he thinks about a Reigns heel turn and what he can achieve in the WWE when he does portray the villain.

PREDICTION

He even went as far as predicting that if Reigns does turn heel, he could he will enjoy the greatest run of his career compared to continuing as a face.

He said: “People are making the case, from what I’ve read, that you’ve got to run Roman heel, and other people are saying he’s already a heel, so that’s not necessary.

“He’s not been 100 percent accepted by the audience. Four or five years ago, I’d have said to turn John Cena heel but obviously, they couldn’t do that because he’s beloved by the kids.

“With Roman, for him to have the biggest run possible - and there’s still work to do on his end to make it work - they have to turn him heel and let him just let loose.

“They want him to be aggressive. To say, 'this is what you wanted, this is what you’re going to get’ and people are going to pay now. When I start thinking about it, I get fired up.

“I think he will have his greatest run if he turns heel.”

Despite still being a face that’s not liked, Reigns has been largely successful in WWE by remaining a main event star and capturing multiple championships.

If Austin has his way, though, and his prediction is correct, then it’s scary to think exactly how much better Reigns can get as the biggest villain in the company.
