Jordan Henderson pens class message to Liverpool fans in Brighton programme notes

Liverpool are one point away from securing Champions League football – and it all comes down to the final game of the season.

A draw against Brighton today will be enough for the Reds to claim fourth given they’re two points above Chelsea and have a far superior goal difference.

But if they lose, they’re in trouble.

Chelsea face Newcastle United at St James’ Park and victory for Blues would see them end the season on 73 points.

The pressure is well and truly on, especially considering Liverpool are winless in their last three Premier League games, but they do have an advantage: the Anfield atmosphere.

Liverpool fans will no doubt be in a buoyant mood today and the noise they make will help spur the players on to victory.

And that’s been a theme all season. In home and away fixtures in the Champions League in particular, Liverpool fans have created an unrivalled atmosphere in Europe.

They’ve truly been fantastic and as a way of showing his appreciation, captain Jordan Henderson penned a class message to them in his programme notes for the Brighton game.

In the snippet below, Henderson explains how he just wants to make Liverpool fans proud and repay them for their unwavering support over the past nine months.

“There are just a couple of examples but, more than ever, we appreciate that following a football club is a big commitment and one in which we as players take huge benefits from,” he wrote.

“Hopefully today and at the end of the season we will have repaid that in the best way we can – by getting results that make you happy and proud to support Liverpool Football Club.

“Allez Allez Allez.”

Nice touch, Jordan. A Champions League final awaits Liverpool on May 26, but for now it’s about finishing in the top four and Kopites will have a huge role to play in that.
