Mohamed Salah may have scored the most goals in the Premier League this season but who has scored the best?Match of the Day was asking that very question in their final programme of the season having narrowed it down to eight goals.Charlie Daniels, Sofiane Boufal, Wayne Rooney, Pedro Obiang, Victor Wanyama, Salah, Leroy Sane and Wayne Rooney all made the list.Gary Lineker and co. allowed the public to vote for which goal they thought was the best. Then, pundits Alan Shearer and Ian Wright had to choose the winner from the three goals that received the most votes. All very diplomatic. After an hour of voting, the final three were Rooney’s 60-yard strike vs West Ham, Salah’s slalom goal vs Spurs and Vardy’s left-footed volley vs West Brom.

THE FINAL THREE

Take a look at which goal from the final three you think is best:

SHEARER AND WRIGHT AGREED ON VARDY

But Shearer and Wright didn’t even need to confer to pick their winner.

They were both in absolute agreement than Vardy’s volley against West Brom should win.

While there are obviously going to be plenty of people that disagree with that selection, there were plenty that fully agreed with two of the best strikers the Premier League has ever seen.

Shearer and Wright have scored 373 goals between them in England’s top-flight so you can’t really argue with their selection, can you?

Then again, football is all about opinions and supporters are fully entitled to their own.

WHAT LAMPARD SAID ABOUT VARDY'S GOAL

After the goal was scored back in March, Frank Lampard was in the Match of the Day studio and he admitted at the time that it was his favourite goal of the season.

“This is my favourite goal of the season,” said Lampard.

“The skill of this to run on to a straight ball and then end up putting it into the far corner, let’s just look at his eyes because he can’t see where the goals is because he has to focus on the ball.

“He is just going in instinct and adjusting every millisecond. He knows he can’t put his foot through it because it is too difficult a skill so it is a controlled volley and he catches it absolutely perfect, and then, even better, he is right footed so that is his weaker foot.

“It certainly is a goal of the season contender and I absolutely love every aspect of that goal.”
