Lewis Hamilton seemed to suggest his Formula 1 career still has plenty of distance left to cover after taking a dominant victory at the Spanish Grand Prix this past Sunday.Following a difficult run of races which had led some to question the Briton's motivation, the world champion and his Mercedes team were simply unbeatable in Barcelona as he won by over 20 seconds from teammate Valtteri Bottas. As a result, Hamilton now sits atop the Drivers' Championship by 17 points from Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel, with the German defending what many considered a wrong decision to pit twice during the race as a near-certain second place became a disappointing fourth. But that was the least of the 33-year-old's concerns as he revealed a much greater sense of satisfaction following his win in Spain than he had after inheriting the victory two weeks earlier in Baku."It is the greatest feeling to come here and have that kind of performance and then win convincingly. That is what anybody with a win wants to do, do it that way," he was quoted by ESPN."It is definitely a great, great feeling and I think you could probably see from my energy when I got out the car."To think that is my 64th, it still feels like a first, special and unique in its own way," he added."The journey to it is why it feels unique on its own but that is encouraging for me because I've been racing a long time so to still have that feeling when I have that win."That happiness and that uplift from inside that I have that feeling. I am going to sleep like a baby tonight because I know I did my job this weekend to the maximum and I didn't leave anything on the table so there is no better feeling."Assessing what this victory means going forward is difficult as Barcelona has always been a strong track for Mercedes, mostly because of the use of harder tyres which suit their car more than Ferrari and Red Bull. The next two races in Monaco and Canada will be important in determining if this past weekend was just a one-off, particularly as the new Hypersoft compound will be used for the first time and the layouts will play to the respective strengths of their rivals.Aware of that though, Hamilton admitted the race wasn't just a simple stroll to the checkered flag."People probably think it was an easy race and I was cruising but I wasn't cruising," he explained."I was comfortable and at no point did I feel like I was going to lose it, but I was pushing every single lap using it as a test bench to understand what I liked about the balance and how can I play with it more and how can I squeeze more out of it and do all sorts to understand what more I can get from.''That right there is why he is a four-time world champion and one of the best to ever step behind the wheel.
