Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has undoubtedly enjoyed the season of his life on Merseyside. Many an eyebrow was raised when Jurgen Klopp parted company with what seemed like an astronomical £40 million to snatch the out-of-favour midfielder away from Arsenal.Question marks remained as the Ox struggled to find his feet in his new surroundings (who can forget that disaster class against Leicester on his full debut) with fans and pundits alike struggling to fathom the reasoning behind Klopp’s decision to snap him up.“You have to bring something on the table. I have been watching him for a very long time and I still don’t know what he’s good at.”Those were the honest words of Thierry Henry in September and they seemed to be right on the money. However, Chamberlain was determined to prove the doubters wrong and has since embarked an incredible season, growing from strength to strength under the tutelage of the charismatic Klopp. The Ox played a massive part in Liverpool’s astounding run to the semi-final’s of the Champions League, netting an absolute screamer in the quarter-final clash with Manchester City - a goal that would go on to be named the Red’s goal of the season. His antics on and off the field quickly endeared the 24-year-old to his new fan base, as the shaky performances at the beginning of his Anfield career were rapidly forgotten. It is no surprise then, that Reds fans were absolutely gutted to see their new star stretchered off after injuring his knee in the Champions League semi-final first leg against Roma. For Ox, who will be sidelined for the World Cup and the biggest game in club football after his side progressed into the Kiev final, it was a devastating moment. However, as is his way, Chamberlain has kept his head up and continued to give his loving fans even more reason to cheer his name when he returns.

Oxlade Chamberlain’s incredible gesture to fan

One fan, in particular, will be forever grateful for the deadline day signing of the Ox after failing to secure a ticket for UEFA’s showpiece event in Kiev.

Liverpool were allocated only 16,000 tickets, and with 26,000 fans registering for the ballot, many were set for a massive disappointment.

Joe Jagger was one such fan.

Having followed his beloved Red’s all over Europe, he would have been hopeful of taking his place amongst the traveling Kop in Kiev, but it wasn’t to be.

For his son, Bobbi, who even managed to nab the Ox’s match shirt after the quarter-final win over City, it was doubly heartbreaking.

Incredibly though, Chamberlain stepped in, going out of his way to get in touch with the family and offer them two match tickets for the final in Kiev.

Absolute class.

Naturally, Red’s fans could only praise the midfielder.

There have been many questions raised over UEFA’s treatment of the fans, but there are no questions surrounding just how much the Ox is loved at Anfield.

Good on you Chambo.
