The WWE returns to pay-per-view (PPV) programming on June 17th next month from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois for Money In The Bank (MITB).Earlier this morning (Mon. May 14, 2018) SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon announced on Twitter the first title match to be confirmed for the PPV event. He revealed WWE Champion AJ Styles would be defending his title against Shinsuke Nakamura yet again:

Styles and Nakamura have had a longstanding rivalry for the past few months. It all started when the Japanese star won the 2018 Men's Royal Rumble match this past January. This punched his ticket to a main event match at WrestleMania 34.

Nakamura opted to challenge Styles for his WWE Title. Their bout was hyped up as a "dream match" for fans, as the had yet to compete against one another on U.S. soil.

When the match finally did happen though, it was a bit underwhelming - likely due to the high expectations put onto it by fans.

Styles successfully retained his title at The Show Of Shows, but Nakamura turned heel after the defeat by hitting The Phenomenal One with a low blow. This started off an even longer feud between the pair.

Nakamura got another crack at Styles at the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia. The match ended in a double count out before Styles viciously attacked Nakamura outside.

At Backlash earlier this month, Styles and Nakamura again battled for the WWE Title in a No Disqualification match.

Despite putting on one of their best matches with one another in WWE, the match ended in a double count out again as neither man could answer the referee's 10 count and get to their feet.

Now, it seems that the pair will once again go toe-to-toe inside the ring at MITB. It should be noted that McMahon did not announce a stipulation for the match, but that will likely be done on this week's episode of SmackDown Live.
