Liverpool struck a deal with RB Leipzig for the transfer of midfielder Naby Keita last summer, but the Guinea international has spent the entire season playing in the Bundesliga. The 23-year-old will officially complete his move to Anfield on July 1; however, he has now played his final game for Leipzig.Keita signed off by helping Leipzig secure a sixth-placed finish in the Bundesliga table after an emphatic 6-2 victory away at Hertha Berlin on Saturday. The tough-tackling midfielder was handed a couple of gifts after the match - including a huge framed photo of himself and a bouquet of flowers - and he thanked the fans for their support on Instagram.“I just want to take a minute to say thanks for everything,” he wrote. “Thanks for the 2 years I’ve been here in Leipzig. I appreciated the whole team @dierotenbullen and a big thank to the FAN RB Leipzig, your guys are AMAZING!!! NK8 ⚽️✌️“Because Leipzig finished in sixth place, Liverpool will now need to pay £52.75 million for the midfielder.Had they dropped to seventh, the fee would have been £48 million. However, it would have increased to a whopping £59 million had the German club finished third in the table.

RB Leipzig's brilliant goodbye tweet for Keita

As he prepares to move to Anfield, Leipzig have posted a fantastic tweet to say thank you to Keita.

“After two fantastic years, we say goodbye to our midfield maestro 👋“ the Bundesliga club tweeted. “Sit back and enjoy the very best of B̶a̶b̶y̶ ̶K̶e̶i̶t̶h̶ Naby #Keïta 🔥“

The scribbled out ‘Baby Keith’ is obviously how some Liverpool fans on social media refer to the Guinean. Nice touch.

The tweet is accompanied by a minute-long video showing some of Keita’s best moments and ends with the words ‘Danke Naby’.

Keita has been invited to the Champions League final

He’s clearly going to missed at the Red Bull Arena.

It remains to be seen whether Keita will accept Jurgen Klopp’s recent invitation to watch his new teammates at the Champions League final against Real Madrid in Kiev on May 26.

“Bringing him in the dining room and saying: ‘Boys, he will play for you next season!’ doesn’t really make any sense. It’s not my first problem, but I will think about it,” Klopp said last week. “I have not been thinking about things like this, but if Naby is reading this and he wants to come with us to the final, he is invited!

“Hopefully, Naby will have a big effect on the team immediately because of his quality.

“This was a difficult season for Naby in Germany, and for Leipzig, in general but he still had outstanding performances.

“Maybe not the same number as last year, but the whole Leipzig team didn’t do exactly the same as last year either.”
