Manchester United can't afford to start next season without having bolstered their full-back ranks.

The Red Devils are a few tweaks away from Premier League title contention and their defensive flanks are by far the most pressing areas of improvement. Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young are both comfortably in their thirties now, while Matteo Darmian looks almost certain to leave.

Then there's the curious case of Luke Shaw - once the most expensive teenager of all time and an exciting prospect under the wing of Louis van Gaal.

To say Jose Mourinho isn't his biggest fan, though, would be putting things mildly.

While it's worth noting that Shaw hasn't exactly performed well this season, there can be little doubting that the United boss has treated the left-back poorly.

Luke Shaw exit rumours

Paul Scholes noted back in March regarding Shaw: "I think sometimes, managers get in their head that there's a player not for them. He could be brilliant, and I think his manager would still find something wrong with him."

As a result, it looks almost certain that Shaw will bid goodbye to Old Trafford in the summer.

It was a suspicion reiterated by Duncan Castles in The Times this week, noting that United are open to selling the former Southampton man and are interested in Juventus' Alex Sandro.

Man Utd fans want Sessegnon transfer

That's all well and good, but what do the fans think on the matter?

Well, it turns out that Monday night gave United supporters the perfect opportunity to see one of the men linked with replacing Shaw and, frankly, they loved him.

The man in question is Ryan Sessegnon who shone for Fulham in their play-off second leg with Derby County, scoring and bagging himself an assist. Check out the reaction:

Pretty major for a 17-year-old, hey?

Nevertheless, this is no ordinary 17-year-old but one who has been linked with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona in recent weeks.

The Englishman can play at both left-back and left wing, amassing 51 appearances for Fulham this season and even providing 16 goals.

And it's clear that United fans love the idea of him pulling on the famous red jersey.

Numerous publications have confirmed that the Red Devils are interested in Sessegnon although a recent report by The Sun suggests Fulham could ask for as much as £100 million.

If United do approach the 17-year-old and do have to pay such a crazy fee, they better hope it's second time lucky with a Premier League record for a teenager...
