Roman Reigns knows that the majority of fans that flood into the arenas on a weekly basis don’t like him, and he's aware that there’s simply no shying away from it.

The reactions have been like that for some years now. However, this year, in particular, the negativity was turned up a notch when the fans caught wind of the rumours that Brock Lesnar could be edging closer to a UFC return, meaning The Big Dog might leave WrestleMania as the new Universal Champion for the first time in his career.

NEGATIVITY

That didn’t happen, while Reigns failed in the rematch too at the Greatest Royal Rumble leading many to believe that fan reaction is the reason Vince McMahon continues to pull the plug on a Reigns coronation.

The fact is, it’s bound to happen sooner or later. With Reigns admitting that he’s willing to turn heel if it means he can feud with Daniel Bryan, it might just mean that the journey to becoming the face of WWE and being embraced by the fans will take longer than the WWE had hoped for.

With Reigns currently in the UK during the WWE’s European tour, he caught up with the media to answer some burning questions and obviously, one of those revolved around the nuclear heat he receives from the fans consistently.

Speaking to The Sun’s SunSport section, Reigns revealed that he really doesn’t care about the negative reaction and it doesn’t affect him - as long as he sells tickets and gets a reaction, he’s happy.

TICKETS AND REACTIONS

He said: “As long as fans are showing up and as long as they’re making noise, I’ve done my job. I’ve done what I’m supposed to do and that’s draw people into the building.

“What I and everybody in WWE thinks is to go out there and work hard and continue to show why I am the guy.

“It’s not easy doing this every single day, going to every single down and getting a reaction. And that’s what I do regardless of whether it’s all cheers, a mixed reaction or heavy boos.

“We have to look at it as a global company. We’re not just worried about the one town that we’re in, we’re covering our entire fanbase.

“The WWE Universe is humongous. We have to keep that in mind.”

Social media is consistently reacting negatively to Reigns, the fans in the arena are usually the same while fans also reportedly walked out of Backlash during his main event.

Based on his calm demeanour, though, it’s going to take a lot more than booing to get under his skin and for the WWE to stop the push.
