Hulk Hogan hasn't been seen in the WWE for almost three years now, and recent reports have suggested he's making the right steps towards a return to the company. While Hogan is trying to move on from what happened by apologising, he might not be going the right way about it.

The Hulkster hasn't worked for the WWE since he was fired by the company in July 2015 after a controversial tape was released showing him making offensive comments. He has been at a few WWE events since then, such as the premiere for HBO Sports' Andre the Giant documentary, but not in an actual WWE ring.

His induction into The Boys and Girls Club of America Hall of Fame has further boosted hopes of a WWE return, and now the man himself has commented on the reports.

Speaking recently with Buffalo News, Hogan talked about the remarks he made on the tape and tried to apologise further in hopes of moving past them and mend bridges for a return to the WWE. However, it's also an example as to why others simply aren't ready to forgive him.

Hogan said: “People know me. I’m human being like anybody else, and sometimes, people make mistakes. When they do, you watch that person a little bit more closely than you did before to see what kind of person they really are.

"I just want people to judge me by my actions, not a few misspoken words. To those few fans who feel (hurt), I’m forever sorry, and I’ll do whatever I can to make them feel comfortable with me.”

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like The Hulkster is fully owning his past statements as anything more than unclear language. Nor has he demonstrated he’s learned how and why they were hurtful, as he's failing to recognise that there is more than ‘those few fans’ that were hurt by his ‘few misspoken words’.

As for the status of his return to the WWE, Hogan hopes he will come back one day, as WWE to him is his home.

“All these things say it’s imminent or rumors, that’s like saying ‘maybe, possibly, could be.’ Until I’m back home with the WWE, I’m not home. Hopefully some day I can go back home and be with my family, the wrestlers and all the people I love. I just really, really hope it happens.”

Until he takes full ownership of what he did though, it's hard to see that happening.
