Sadly, mentioning Brock Lesnar as the Universal Champion in 2018 seems to leave a sour taste in the mouth, a stark contrast to the reaction he received upon his return and subsequent feuds leading towards the introduction of Suplex City.

Although the WWE Universe doesn’t want Roman Reigns to be the one that eventually slays The Beast, the majority will claim that The Beast needs to drop the red strap so that the championship picture on Monday Night RAW can become a more open and challenging picture.

UNIVERSAL CHAMPION

With Lesnar at the helm, there aren’t many stars that can get involved in the conversation, even if they deserve to. For example, the only superstars WWE has booked to face Lesnar during his run as champion are The Big Dog, Samoa Joe, Kane and Braun Strowman.

The consensus right now is that Lesnar will either drop the championship to Reigns or The Monster Among Men; potentially at SummerSlam as the former UFC heavyweight champion isn’t booked to compete at Money in the Bank next month.

However, based on social media activity that seems to be blowing up recently, Mike Johnson of PWInsider believes that the WWE could end up going down a completely different route and might be building towards a feud between Lesnar and Seth Rollins.

The Kingslayer is doing fantastic work as the Intercontinental Champion right now and is rightfully drawing praise from fans and outlets around the world for his performances. However, the whole ‘being a defending champion’ could be the route WWE goes down based on a trend which Rollins started on Twitter.

With that gaining more and more prominence, Johnson thinks this could be the match the WWE ends up booking.

THE KINGSLAYER VS. THE BEAST?

According to Ringside News, he said: “I’ve noticed lately on social media he’s [Rollins] been doing ‘#BrockWho,’ so it would appear that Dave Scherer in predicting that Seth Rollins against Brock is the match to look at. He might be right.”

That’s something a lot of WWE fans also believe should happen, with reactions earlier this week from his supporters suggesting they are convinced that WWE will create this feud.

Rollins and Lesnar have a history. The Architect performed the heist of the century at WrestleMania 31 to leave with the WWE Championship, while their match at Battleground didn’t have an actual winner with The Undertaker attacking Lesnar to disqualify Rollins.

The entire legitimacy factor will undoubtedly come into play.

Some will suggest Rollins might not be a believable option to defeat Lesnar compared to guys like Strowman and Reigns. However, the ironman label he has and the reputation he has carved as possibly the best wrestler in the world right now; it means he does stand a genuine chance of being someone fans believe could eventually defeat Lesnar.
