We've already had some on-court fury today at the Rome Masters, when Dominic Thiem destroyed his racquet after hitting a shot too long against Fabio Fognini.Despite the anger from the Austrian world number eight, he slightly made up for his outburst by handing the now-unusable equipment to a fan in the crowd. You rarely see the kind of fury Thiem displayed on the women's circuit however, where action tends to be a lot calmer. But something is clearly in the air in the Italian capital, as a top female competitor's aggression completely came out following the completion of her match.Karolina Pliskova is currently the world number six in the women's singles rankings, and topped the pile as recently as July 2017.The Czech athlete has racked up more than $11 million in prize money despite never winning a grand slam title to date, but has managed to take home 10 Women's Tennis Association tournament trophies in her career to solidify herself as a top name in the profession. Her most recent triumph came at the Stuttgart Open, where she defeated the American Coco Vandeweghe in straight sets 7-6, 6-4, but she didn't have the same kind of success earlier today in her Italian Open Round of 32 clash with Greek Maria Sakkari.

At 5-5 in the match-deciding set, Pliskova overhead smashed a slow-dropping ball for what she assumed was a winning point.

However, the line-judge deemed the ball to be out, and this decision was not over-ruled by umpire Marta Mrozinska.

And with no hawkeye technology in place to give a definitive decision, the call stood against Pliskova, who ended up losing her serve and Sakkari went on to win the set, and the match, 7-5.

If Pliskova didn't show her distain to her opponent, she certainly did to Mrozinska, as she swung her racket three times, causing considerable damage to the umpire's chair.

Pliskova's twin sister Kristyna took to Twitter to defend her, claiming Mrozinska as the 'worst she has ever seen' and hoped that she would 'never referee' a match involving herself or her sister.

The decision prompted fury from fans online, some calling for the umpire to be removed from their position, whilst some claimed Pliskova went too far in her actions.
