Arsenal are tracking Everton centre-back Phil Jagielka and are willing to pay around £18 million, according to reports.
Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is looking to instigate a complete overhaul of his squad and has already signed Laurent Koscielny for £10 million.
The Frenchman is not expected to be his only defensive signing, though, as Jagielka has impressed since his switch to the Toffees.
The former Sheffield United defender is versatile, which makes him an ideal signing, as he can play right-back as well as in goal if needed.
The Goodison Park club have already reportedly turned down an offer of £14 million from the Gunners but Jagielka could see the switch as a chance to force his way into the England set up.
