Manchester United are being linked with a shock move for Fiorentina midfielder Stevan Jovetic.

The Montenegrin playmaker has become one of the hottest properties in European football, with Manchester United and Barcelona both thought to be interested in the 20-year-old.

Jovetic made his senior debut for Partizan Belgrade back in 2006, becoming club captain for the Serbian SuperLiga side in just two years and at the age of 18.

In the summer of 2008, Fiorentina would pay in the region of €8 million to take Jovetic to Serie 'A', with 'Jo-Jo becoming an instant hit with the Florence faithful at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

His form for the Viola has been quite brilliant, producing some wonderful Champions League performances last season for the Italian side.

After scoring some key group game goals, including two in the win against Liverpool, Jovetic grabbed a brace against Bayern Munich in the last 16. It wasn't enough, losing on away goals to Arjen Robben's wonder strike. and Italia report that United, who have been linked with a move for Inter Milan maverick Mario Balotelli in recent weeks, are tracking the situation over a possible move for Jovetic.

Sinisa Mihajlovic, coach of Fiorentina, is keen to keep his star at the club and claimed the player could become a legend if he stayed. That news came amidst interest from Pep Guardiola's Barca side last week.

Now Sir Alex Ferguson is thought to be interested, although a large sum could be needed to prize the player away from his current home before he agrees a new deal that is currently being negotiated.
