In around a month’s time, WWE fans will have a much better idea of which superstars could end up becoming a world champion on either Monday Night RAW or SmackDown LIVE once the Money in the Bank event is in the books.
Unless you’re John Cena, Damien Sandow or Baron Corbin, the Money in the Bank winners have an excellent track record of cashing in the contract to become the new champions in WWE, with Carmella being the most recent after she cashed in on Charlotte Flair to become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion.
MONEY IN THE BANK
Naturally, a sense of excitement kicks in when Money in the Bank rolls around, primarily due to the chaos and unpredictability it can bring, even though the handful of superstars in the match are already confirmed.
While there are still four female athletes that need to be announced, the make line-up is now all but confirmed.
From RAW, we have Bobby Roode, Braun Strowman, Finn Balor and Kevin Owens who will - potentially - look to snatch the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar. From SmackDown, Rusev and The Miz have been confirmed, while the winner of Big Cass and Samoa Joe will also advance to the match.
Plus, one member of the New Day is also confirmed the bout with Big E the favourite to enter the contest.
However, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has highlighted this week that one match might have been scrapped, with Big E’s inclusion being a significant sign of that.
TAG TEAM
Since last week, rumours had emerged that due to a Money in the Bank poster showing three briefcases, the WWE was finally going to introduce a tag team ladder match.
However, the source has now claimed that it’s looking increasingly unlikely that the WWE will be going ahead with a third ladder match, especially with one member of the New Day being in the male line-up.
While it’s not 100% out of the picture right now, according to Bryan Alvarez, the feeling is that WWE could be holding off on it this year, but it’s not an idea that is entirely out of the question in the long-run.
Despite many not believing it was in the works, the same source once claimed that there was a reason the likes of The Ascension and Breezango stated that they were going to win Money in the Bank with no follow-up.
This year, though, it seems like the tag teams might be watching from the sidelines like the rest of us.
